IBL applauds Mental Math Masters

Mental Math

Year 2008 marks the 7th year that Intercommercial Bank has participated as the major sponsor in the National Primary School Mental Mathematics Marathon made possible through the efforts of the Mental Mathematics Committee of the Curriculum Planning and Development Division of the Ministry of Education.

700 Students from 350 primary schools throughout Trinidad and Tobago participated in the Preliminary Rounds of the 15th edition of this mental competition. With 373 qualifying for the Semi-finals and 40 qualifying for the Finals.

Mental Math gives the students the opportunity to develop their abilities to reason abstractly with quantity and space, encouraging creative and independent thinking and development of strategies for problem solving. These skills will serve them well not only at school and in their academic lives but in all aspects of their existence, be it at work, home or at play.

Intercommercial Bank is pleased to be part of this systems approach to building critical skills and promoting excellence, and is committed to these ideals and to the growth and development of our economy and of the nation at large.
